Amazing Acts of Love! Generosity of My Work Colleagues…

Upon hearing of Jim’s tragic and sudden death, my work colleagues discussed how they could help our family. They coordinated with Jim’s school for meal delivery and sent flowers to the funeral home.

It wasn’t until a week after the funeral, I learned about another extremely generous gift from my co-workers. Together, they donated 25 sick days for me to use at my discretion. The days were a life-saver for me, financially. Their unexpected donation of sick days enabled me to take care of personal business relating to Jim’s death and one unexpected surprise.

On Easter Sunday, April 8, my youngest son was sitting at the breakfast table when he called out my name…”Mom! What are these on my belly?” he asked as he lifted his pajama top. I glanced over at his belly and started to chuckle. “Sweetie, those are called, chicken pox!” I buried my face in my hands and shook my head. I guess I’ll be home for another week, I thought. Tomorrow was supposed to have been my first day back at work since that fateful day in March… the day a phone call changed my life forever.
