Amazing Acts of Love! The Teacher’s Gift...

Jim’s visitation was planned for the evening of Sunday, March 11. As we prepared for the visitation, memories of Jim were arranged, lovingly, on the tables and walls of the funeral home.

One of the first guests to arrive to greet the family was my youngest son’s kindergarten teacher. (I interviewed her for this story.) She recalls, “I remember carrying the stuffed bunny in and looking for your son. I had it behind my back and told him I had a special friend for him… one who will laugh with you, be a great listener, and give you LOVE whenever you need it. It will even comfort you when you are sad, too. I handed him the bunny and I remember his face lighting up as he gave it a good squeeze. It melted my heart! I was hoping it would be something special for him.”

Her wish was fulfilled… he held and slept with that bunny every night. The bunny he was given from this thoughtful, loving, teacher was the most incredible gift he could have ever received during this tragic time in his life. I will be eternally grateful for the love my son’s teacher shared with him that day.
